I've been watching camera reviews and comparisons on YouTube, and I have to be careful. The new cameras sound so good! I especially like comparisons because they point out specific differences between two cameras. So far, I have resisted the urge to buy anything. I still use my D750, Sony a6000, and Fuji X-T30. So far, so good. Unless I find a good excuse to buy something new, I think I'll be safe.

Very recently I succumbed to a GAS attack and upgraded from a Sony a77ii to a Sony a7iii. I'm happier than a hog in a hip high wallow!

I'd say that I've found the auto focus advance from the A6000 to the A6100 stunning, but don't want to add to your dilemma!

I have to take issue with your statement. Just because one cannot afford the latest and greatest with all the bells and whistles does not mean they do not want to succeed. Furthermore, the equipment is not the sole determination of success. Tiger Woods can use golf equipment made with technology of Arnold Palmer's day and beat most golfers on the tour today who use clubs made with the latest technology. A good craftsman never blames his tools.

Couldn’t agree more. My heirs can figure out what to do with the Jaguar roadster after I’m gone. Maybe I’ll buy a coupe and compound the issue. I already have a full-frame, crop-frame, mirror less and super zoom - there must be something I’m lacking?

.....a waterproof, freezeproof, crushproof TG6?

We each have three tools at our disposal: desire, effort and a camera. Shouldn't you buy the best camera?

I learned a long time ago to be very careful about reviews.

I read that The Fifth Dimension's last album was one of the greatest albums ever. So I bought it (always liked them). A week later, I read that it was one of the worst albums ever. The truth? It was fairly enjoyable.

I can always justify the latest GAS attack by comparing my photo hobby to other material choices like boats, atvs, snowmachines, and airplanes, some of which I have owned.

Fortunately I also have some natural resistances: frugality and simplicity.

I can afford whatever I want.

These forces are battling over over a Zfc. I did succumb to the new Z 28mm they are offering with it: backordered. Have thinned my F mount lens inventory and now have Z6, Z50, and Lumix GM5…the latter which is on the road out soon. Haven’t yet pulled the trigger on a Zfc. If I do it will be to try for a while and then decide on keeping it or the Z50: not both (simplicity motivation).

want vs need! Still using the D810. I would like a little better ISO performance, better focus system & fps but, a biggie at my age would be a flip out/up, down screen. I'll get by for now & probably wait until my camera doesn't work anymore. Maybe a D850 or Z6-2 for astro. I can see & like a lot of features of the new mirrorless but...

Don't count on the D850 being there when your D810 quits working, if it ever quits. In fact, some have reported that B&H is sending a message that it is discontinued if you try to order one, and Adorama doesn't have any in stock. If you rely on any older lenses that require a motor in the body to focus and don't feel like replacing them, then you'd better find and grab one now. Those lenses won't focus on the Z bodies, even with the adapter.

Canon, Nikon, Sony, all rely on people that are not satisfied. Go help them make their quarterly profits.
Try to make a distinction between "wants" and "needs."

You’re missing a Fujifilm medium format mirrorless camera.

I need to start a go fund me page so I can succeed. 😎 Reminds me of a Hunter S Thompson quote with regards to GAS

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
