I beg to differ Jerryc41. When you are driving you have to worry about every oncoming driver. Have they gotten enough sleep? Have they been drinking? Using drugs? What's their mental state? How well is their vehicle maintained? Any hazardous cargo? What is their driving skill level? Distractions?

Air travel is much less stressful. Their are two pilots sitting up front. Both undergo periodic retraining and medical exams. True, you do have to think about aircraft maintenance, but the same thing is true. The mechanics are all required to have the necessary skills.

Everything is dangerous, but I don't want to give any more money to the airlines. Two pilots sitting up front means two people to make mistakes. I watched a video last night about a jet that flew 126 miles past its destination because the pilots weren't paying attention. They were fired.

Yes, I guess I'm a control freak. I don't like not being in control of whatever I'm traveling in. I don't even like riding in a car unless I'm driving. I don't trust anyone else with my wellbeing.

So many stupid mistakes and so many bad decisions - like extending service intervals.

I watched a training flight last night. It had three pilots, and not one of them prevented the plane from crashing.

I used to love flying, I'm 82+ and don't need to fly anymore, thank goodness!

As I've mentioned, I watch a lot of crash investigations. When the show begins with an old pilot or an old plane, I have a pretty good idea what to expect.

My wife and I started watching those crashes a couple weeks ago, we sat for hours and watched them, I didn't realize how many disasters there've been? Those poor, innocent people, sitting there waiting to die, and not a damned thing they could do about it!!

The Flight Channel is my favorite. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+flight+channel

I also like Mini Air Crash Invesitgation. the one below is unbelievable.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RHJOjXD-Uc&t=22s

The different channels report on the same crashes. The one about the death of the Polish resident is awful. The Communist Party guy over-ruled the pilots, and they crashed. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=polish+president+plane+crash

Russian planes used to have the horizon indicator moving opposite from western planes. Pilots switching from one type to the other sometimes crashed.

Greg Feith is good. He's a current or former crash investigator. I once saw someone being interviewed about a crash on one of those shows, and I recognized him as a former local guy. He now works in the airline industry in one way or another.

Thanks Jerry, I'll check those out! There was a plane that crashed in a park in Colorado Springs many years ago, I was driving close by and saw people in the windows as it crashed; no survivors! It still haunts me to this day!!

I decided years ago that I was through with flying. This was mainly because of price increases and service reductions by the airlines. As time goes on, passengers are another reason why I won't fly again. A passenger on Frontier Airlines was taped to his seat after he groped two flight attendants and punched a third. Imagine being stuck in an aluminum tube people someone like that.

Yes, I know that 99.9% of all passengers behave. But I also know that as soon as I get on a checkout line, the line stops because of problems. Yesterday, I had to cross a local toll bridge, and the automatic EZPass lane was closed. The lane with the guy in the booth wasn't moving. Then it moved very, very slowly. When I got there, the guy was wiping down the whole interior and closing out. Shift change. When the new guy arrived - walking slower than I thought was possible - he had to go through a whole setup procedure. Really, it was comical. Without even looking at me, he detected the EZPass and opened the gate. So, if you think I would have an uneventful flight, guess again.

EDITED:
Aug 3: "Woman duct-taped to seat after biting flight attendant, trying to open plane’s door, airline says."
July 11: "A woman was physically restrained to her chair with strips of duct tape aboard an American Airlines flight, the company says, after she allegedly tried to open the plane’s door while the craft was in flight and assaulted a crew member."
I decided years ago that I was through with flying... (show quote)

The EZ Pass lane need not be attended. I have used EZ Pass in NY and NJ And Ma. De and Md many thousands of times. NEVER have there been attended EZ Pass lanes They are all automotic, that's the main benefit of EZ Pass. That's why they are called EZ Pass

i've been grounded with cancer for the last couple years and thought that was bad---but nothing like these people had!!
