Mirrorless vs. dslr

I guess there are a lot of people with an undeveloped sense of humor.
Pretty amazing to me that so many can totally not see tongue in cheek humor even when aimed directly at the chief UHH tongue in cheek poster.
My wife is one of those, so I'm not totally surprised they exist, but still it's a bit startling.
Oops! Sorry about that...thought I saw "Bill" down at the bottom of the response...so I'll retract that and say, "Thanks, oh wise and experienced one"! đ

I see you're from Chicago...figures...definitely "windy" either way...
I'm sure regulars here are used to your incessant yammering...however, for noobs like me, looking to learn and seeking sage advice...your purile postings are enough to insure others will seek advice and counsel elsewhere...much to the detriment of the UHH community...
Whatever gave you the idea that this forum is here just to teach YOU how to use a camera, take pictures, or what to buy?
Personally, I think UHH is here purely for MY entertainment.
Just to warn YOU, if you don't provide ME with entertainment, I'll skip YOUR message.
Yes, I enjoyed your message even though it taught me nothing, so you skated this time, but you're on thin ice...

SoâŚaccording to youâŚthe ultimate arbiter of good photographersâŚAnsel Adamâs was a hack. YeahâŚright.
Of all the great photographers, Adams work is the least appreciated by ME. In fact, I don't even like his work. It's not even in color...YUCK. I've seen thousands of pictures posted on the HOG that I like better than any of AA's work I've seen.
This of course is photography according to me, I don't even try to speak for the other 7,799,999,999 people on earth.
I'd bet if AA had any digital camera, even a cell phone camera, and a decent editor, like Affinity or PS, he would have come up with some good stuff...
A recent study found that 68% of the statistics on 37% of the discussion boards are 84% made up.

Lots of Colonel Flag types here it seems.
But it is to be expected because the internet casts a wide net.

Interestingly, I gone back and reviewed a large number of photographs reported to have been shot by various camera formats and guess what? Not a single photograph could be identified as coming from a particular camera. I guess that means the camera format means more to the photographer than to anyone viewing the photograph.
I can't tell the camera of any pictures I've taken with my 6 different digital camera's w/o looking at the file names or Exif data. This includes cell phones.
The difference mainly is in ease of use. My mirrorless Panasonic FZ18 was the easiest camera by far I've ever used. It has all the functions of my D5200 but for me, much easier to use. The easiest is my cell phone. They all take great pictures under the right conditions, bad pictures under the wrong conditions.
I still have all my camera's back to 1975 Pentax Spotmatic, but I never use any of my old camera's. I will use my Panasonic for movies on a rare occasion, if needing two camera's.
If I were buying a new camera it would probably be a Panasonic mirrorless.

The camera just records. Itâs the nut behind the lens that has the most significant impact on the results.

Risky bet there. Steep odds. Maybe he would have cropped Moonrise correctly but I still got doubts. He used a proven tradesmanâs practice to latch onto what works, and then âwash, rinse, repeatâ.
You hafta admire his reliable ability to repeatedly deliver technical perfection, but that âgee whizzâ factor wears thin pretty quickly. Itâs just too superficial.
Acoarst, to be fair, large cameras are designed for making boring pictures. Theyâre basically tools of commerce.

Your can have whatever opinion you want and I will defend your right to that opinion, but be aware you are definitely in the minority in thinking Adams work is sub standard or out dated because of digital tech.
And the results of his work, bringing awareness of the beauty of the wilderness, to the people. Raising awareness of the need to preserve that beauty, the Sierra Club, other environmental movements, all results of his work, all speak for themselves.

Your minimal display of respect is grudgingly acknowledged.
With the wrong camera, success is probably 99% luck. But with a mirrorless camera, it's 100% the photographer.
