My little Speedy had to be euthanized yesterday morning.
So heartbreaking, it's just devastating.
Little Ava Grace, Grand Daughter, 8 YO, placed one of the roses she and her Brother and Sister brought yesterday.

Some of you might remember him from being the Sleepy Dog, of the Sleepy Dog Observatory in Saugus, CA.

He lived 18 years. 17 1/2 with us. And he was a very well traveled companion. One of his favorite trips was to Lowe's where he'd stand up at the front of the cart and drive us around the store in search of whatever interesting stuff Dad needed.
He'd been a constant companion on RV trips and helped drive by keeping Dad's lap warm, and warning when a strange smell came through the vents. He always was disgusted with skunk smell and would alert to it before we could smell it.

Oh, it's so hard missing him.

My little Speedy had to be euthanized yesterday mo... (show quote)

Losing a family member is always hard. Sounds like he had a good life and lived a long time. We lost our kitty around 5 years ago when he was the same age as Sleepy Dog and I still miss him.
For some reason this came up at the top of the list for a new post and I realized I already had sent a message months ago, but it still brings a tear to my eye.

Thank You Bloke. One of the worst things in life to bare.
To me nothing in life compares to the love and friendship a Dog gives.
And this little guy gave 24/7 his entire life. Up to the end he was cuddles and doggy hugs.
Heartbreaking.

So sorry for your loss. He gave 24/7 and I hope that you can find some comfort that you obviously gave him a loving home where he felt secure and was well cared for, you were his pack! He had love and adventures, what more could a dog want❤️
