It worked for me exactly as you described, Tommy. Down the road and then I notice the lonely barn.

Me too.

Beautiful photograph. I think that it would be a great painting if executed by someone with skill and heart to do it justice.

I like the photo, but what is the main subject? The barn or the road? For me I find the road distracting from the barn. Would like to see this without the road.

Great, outstanding shot 💎🏆💎

That's the point...it's up to the viewer what they want to see, what works and what doesn't... There is, in my estimation, no main subject except the image as a whole...

It's a very nice image but there are approaches that may have made a stronger image. My first inclination would be to stand on the left side of the road an shoot across the road toward the barn. Would make the road and the fence a diagonal line instead of a straight line down the left. Might also move the barn more toward the center and a stronger part of the image. Only way to find out though would be to try it. A second simpler solution to get the barn more in the image would be to move it with photoshop in post processing but that may not be your cup of tea. Just my opinion, then again, everyone has great ideas that won't work.

I actually did take a number of photos of this scene, from a number of different angles and vantage points, and did some creative editing in PS to move the barn, move the road, eliminate the phone poles, etc. Ultimately I decided the image I posted most accurately reflected the impression I was trying to convey. Thanks so much for your input, and I appreciate your comments and taking the time to post. I've attached another image from that session as an example of different angles and subject emphasis I captured...Keep clicking, mate!

Great composition! I like the subdued colors and the mist. They complete the scene.

The image works in showing a lonely landscape and an isolated barn. The road and fence leads your eye into an indefinite nothingness, but the barn actually keeps the eye in the frame.

I find the composition, coloration and lighting of your image very appealing. The only thing I would consider is cropping to remove the road. I kind of got lost in the business on the left side of the image. The fence alone does a more subtle job of leading the eye without the business of the road and power pole. It also makes the barn stand out just a bit more.
