Nice shots. Never saw so many one legged quail in one place at the same time. LOL

I appreciate your visit, Ed. They were very relaxed and hung out under the patio table for almost an hour.

You don’t have to apologize for these images Mike. Nice series.

Excellent shots, Mike! I have never seen quail like this before. Any sign of improvement of the weather?

I have not taken any bird shots for many weeks because of the drought, heat, wind and bugs. To my pleasant surprise, yesterday my wife pointed out two California quail on our patio. I could not open any doors for fear of disturbing them, so the attached set is taken through a window. They hung out under the patio table and then went to the fence and walked away.

Please forgive the poor detail, but I am not at my best trying to use a 200 - 600mm lens handheld.

You are very generous, John. The quail are new to our neighborhood. We rarely get substantial birds in our yard because the development is relatively new and the trees are not mature. The weather is gradually getting better, but the forest fire smoke lingers.

Clearly the highest class birds to ever visit our yard, Eugene.

Yes, UTMike, they survive well incur gated community on 'Handouts' even tho' they don't are so shy around humans-and I don't blame them. However, the roadrunners come everyday sometimes twice to feed their next of kin. We've had them eat on our toes, denims and shoulder. Yet they never let us touch them.

Cool looking birds Mike. The Bobwhite quail in the Northeast looks different than your California quail.
