When I see 2 ears wiggle in the brush and then a baby moose appears! It was my last evening in RMNP and I thought I was going to go home with out any baby moose. In the last 2 photos I wish mom had not been half hiding behind the trees. I could not move much due to trees and water bog. I also did not want to upset them, and they were aware I was there and I was the only one there so I had them to myself!

Wonderful set, glad you did it try to move. Momma moose don’t take kindly to anyone in their space, especially with little ones.
Excellent shooting!

Great series! Had to have your adrenaline pumping while you’re trying to hold the camera steady.
Thanks for sharing.

These are great shots. She looks like a young mother to me but baby looks very well cared for. Mom looks relaxed too. Just keep an eye on her ears. If they look like they are starting to lay back on her neck, alarm bells should be going off in the photographers head. Watch out!! Moose kill more people in Alaska than bears do!

Several years ago I was photographing two fly fishermen on an Alaskan river. There was a video photographer recording the scene as well. Suddenly a moose calf came charging across the river from behind us with her mom followed by a grizzly bear about 20 feet behind them. The video photographer's camera was suddenly photographing the sky as he started to run though the water. I was fortunate to photograph the moose calf but neither one of us got photos of the charging bear. It was definitely an adrenalin moment. The moose calf and the grizzly bear disappeared into the brush in seconds but I would guess that things did not go well for the moose calf.
