Nope…he is a firm believer that the hardware makes the image…when any actual photographer knows it is the 80/4 rule…80% of a good image comes from 4 inches behind the viewfinder. I guess he makes all those pithy comments on Canon gear and FF and mirrorless because he thinks they make him look smarter than the rest of us. Too bad…because his continuobashing makes a lot of people ignore him…which is a shame because he actually knows some things and could be a productive helpful forum member if he wanted to…except for the fact that he has turned a lot of people off.
Nope…he is a firm believer that the hardware makes... (show quote)

Come on people, lighten up... I don't myself consider tongue in cheek humor as BASHING ! And as far as being a PRODUCTIVE member of this forum, how many of you can claim to be AS productive with giving helpful advice ? From my humble position on the photographic expertise ladder, I perceive Paul to be an exceptionally knowledgeable photographer who likes his Canon gear because it performs up to his expectations.... If anyone has noticed he has also given credit to Sony products as of late; obviously because he perceives an edge in some way. Be happy that we have such a knowledgeable member of this forum that is willing and able to answer newbie questions as well as complicated ones. A sense of humor is not a polar opposite of being a photographer. Lets hear a shoutout for one of the most helpful members of this community... I am not afraid and I get no $$ for the endorsement. BTW, I have Olympus, Sigma, Canon and Sony in NO particular order....

A shot from pro photographer Don Roos who is in Tokyo covering the Olympics. At least at this venue, there were far more Sony and Canon cameras and lenses in use than Nikon or other brands. Sony lenses have the "G" on them. Black "G" for G lenses, and red "G" for G-Master lenses. And every Sony camera in use is mirrorless. And remember all Associated Press staff photographers worldwide use Sony gear exclusively. Photo by Don Roos.

Thanks for the information. If I decide to become a professional photographer, I will sell all my Olympus and Nikon gear and jump on this bandwagon.

Racking my brain, trying to remember if you've EVER posted ANYTHING on ANY TOPIC that was not shilling for Canon?

Can anyone else recall one?

I use none of those brands and find this post interesting. It shows me that Sony and Canon have done excellent jobs of dominating the professional sports photo space. I do know that Canon has excellent on site support for their gear as well. I assume Sony does too. This info is simply an observation made on a discussion site dedicated to photography.

Humans seem to want to DOMINATE!
What is causing this anguish?
Judging from all mirrorless camera companies today, they all work and all take memorable images. What’s the STCHICK? Can’t you imagine how exciting photography would be if images were based on gifted photographers instead the camera?
Just sayin’ 🤣

I’ve owned top of the line SONY, CANON and NIKON mirrorless FF cameras and put them through the paces.
They all do the job, neither one is best. This name brand thing is a status call as they all perform admirably.
Photographers choose what they personally feel most confident with.
All top line FFmirrorless camera sell great glass. Choose your tool

What I seldom see are the side by side photographs of the same subject using the different brands. I’m not concerned about the color of my lens or whether my camera is favored by pros. What do my photographs look like?

Why does it matter? The brand of camera someone else is using wouldn't make me want to switch brands if I am happy with what I am using.
