I am in the process of digitalizing all of our photos, etc. I would like to store them in the cloud as well as my external drive. I am looking for suggestions for a good reliable cloud service - maybe one where family members can also get on and view photos. Thank you for your suggestions.

I use IDrive for backup. You install it, tell it what to back up and when and that's it.

We have used it for years now with no problems.

Thank you, Ed! Will it hold a large quantity and can those I give information to, be able to access?

I like Carbonite, been using it for years now.
My package is unlimited for one drive on one computer. (Everything is on that one drive, and I copy from our laptops to that computer.)
It has little dots (in Windows) next to the file name indicating if it was backed up.
Automatic, but has an option to "back up as soon as possible".
Backs up base directories, but I can add ones of my choice.
(Plus I use local backups.)

Thank you so much for the information.

P.S. - For sharing I use One Drive.
Access can be global or individual by simply sending a share link by email to various individuals.
But I don't put EVERYTHING on One Drive, only what I want to share, and then remove it (them) in a month or three.

You can buy 5Tb for $70/year. 10Tb for $100/year. They have a 5Gb for free offer.

You can share your stored material with anyone you want to.

I have a subscription to Office 365, and with that comes 1TB storage on the my Microsoft One Drive. I use it not only for storage but also for sharing photos that are too large for email. It's easy to create links to folders for sharing.

Your premise is in error.

You should not be backing up your photos. You should be backing up EVERYTHING. Your photos, your word processing files, your emails, your program configuration files, Everything.

I agree with that, but I have a large drive I am putting all of our family and extended family photos, as well as all of our family birth certificates and obituaries. It is an extremely large file made of numerous individual files. I will also be scanning all of our genealogy documents on this disk. I am wanting to eventually putting it in the cloud so all of our family members will have access to it, instead of sending them to everyone individually. I have been scanning all of these photos, etc. for over two months now - so I don’t want to lose any of it, either - as we are not keeping all of the original photos.
