Nice reminders. It’s been some years since I have been there.

Some great shots. Really like # 4

Glad you enjoyed the scenery! Speaking of #4, I wondered whether the light hitting the corner of the building on the right might have been a ricochet off my lens, since I was shooting right into the sun? It was a curiosity considering everything else around there was wood.

Cades Cove is rich with the history of a hardy group of settlers. Someone we ran into shared a comment made from one of those settlers who was bought out. While he appreciated the park, his only regret was seeing the land he fought to clear and cultivate returned to forest. That really struck a chord with me. Such a hard life back when there were no real roads in. Can only imagine the time it took to get to civilization to purchase supplies. Puts our modern conveniences into perspective. Hope you do go to visit!

Went over to GSMNP in Tennessee a few weeks ago for the start of a series of one-night stops through Highlands, Brevard and then to Biltmore Estate with a friend from Colorado who had never been to WNC. We were hitting the familiar scenery and these (and following posts) are pics from those destinations. This first share is from a late evening drive through Cades Cove.

Great shots--I especially like the ones at the old mill.

Thank you, I enjoy sharing if it gives others ideas for travel planning. You are in for a beautiful trip for catching the autumn colors--hope your plans are towards the last week of October?

Very nice images, Diane! I especially like #1 and #2.

I love that part of North Carolina and Tennessee! I’ve visited Cades Cove a few times. My wife and I took a day trip up there in the late 60s with a couple of college friends during the winter after a bit of snow. Saw many deer grazing in the Cove that day. We had an impromptu snowball fight while making the circuit. When we got home I noticed my wedding band was missing. It must’ve slipped off my finger while making or throwing a snow ball. It may still be up there in Cades Cove on the roadside somewhere.
