By waiting until later in the evening, there was more interesting light to play with than I had had with previous trips to the cove. But this wasn't meant to be a photography experience so much as an introduction to the GSMNP for my friend. Glad you like the results, Barry!

Thank you, Bart. Cades Cove is a wonderful preservation asset for the NP--though, I confess, I don't usually enjoy doing photography in such crowded environments. Kinda like the excursions done from cruse ships, lol.

Cades Cove is rich with the history of a hardy group of settlers. Someone we ran into shared a comment made from one of those settlers who was bought out. While he appreciated the park, his only regret was seeing the land he fought to clear and cultivate returned to forest. That really struck a chord with me. Such a hard life back when there were no real roads in. Can only imagine the time it took to get to civilization to purchase supplies. Puts our modern conveniences into perspective. Hope you do go to visit!
