I ordered a refurbished D500 several weeks ago. I received an email that UPS would deliver it on a certain day and within a certain time frame. I waited around all day and the time frame kept changing until after 6 p.m. when I received an email stating that the delivery had been canceled. This was only a few days before my schedule departure out of town for two weeks. I could not be present at the first delivery but left the UPS form signed for UPS to leave the delivery. UPS failed to do so and then reported that three attempts had been made when only 2 had been attempted. I finally figured out how to ask UPS to deliver to my local UPS store. That was ignored and UPS returned the camera body to Nikon, which gave me a credit. I guess Nikon is not very interested in making a sale. Henceforth, if UPS is delivering I won't buy the item from the vendor. I hope somebody from Nikon USA reads this.

Your choice. I never had a problem with UPS.
As a matter of fact, I prefer UPS over FedEx.
I'd never hang a company on one extenuating instance.
But, to each his own.

Alas, when you get involved with relatively small packages with contents valued in the $$$$, it's hard to get a delivery changed or left without a signature. Consider shipping to the UPS store (or FedEx if that applies) as the original destination rather than trying to change during the shipment. These are just 2021 facts of life that no amount of complaining can change. Consider Amazon and using their ship-to options if a Whole Foods is in your area.

That's part of why I have everything delivered to the store where I work. Fedex, UPS, USPS, & Amazon never a problem.

UPS is fabulous out here - the other good, ex the occasional fill in driver. We all know each other.

I haven't gone into a Whole Foods since Bezos bought it.

Why blame Nikon when apparently they gave the package to UPS to deliver. It seems UPS failed you, not Nikon.

So you ordered something you needed for a trip and it was supposed to arrive just a few days before your trip. And you did this during a time when every company is struggling to find workers in order to maintain their normal level of service. And now you are ranting because it didn’t all go as you planned. Interesting perspective you have on who is to blame. But I am confused on who you blame. Nikon for choosing UPS? Will you still order Nikon if they use USPS? Will you buy other products is they use UPS? Will you switch to Canon if Nikon refuses to switch carriers? And we all know non of this would have happened if you had ordered a mirrorless camera.

I don’t think there is any delivery service that hasn’t been complained here on UHH.

I would suggest renting a PO Box at a UPS store. Yes it cost money. However you will no longer have issues with having to watch for deliveries, porch pirates, or deliveries while you are on vacation.

I also try to avoid UPS. Turns out its drivers can game the delivery tracking system.

It isn't necessarily the company, just some individuals, possibly poor local management. I stopped buying from B&H after they switched their free shipping from UPS to FedEx. Where I live UPS service is far superior. Amazon delivery tops them all.
