This has got to be a nightmare! Aside from the smoke and the pollution, how could they possibly hope to bring this under control? This occurred two weeks ago, and the new container ship is now on the bottom, off the coast of Sri Lanka. The remnants of the burned, melted plastic are killing all sorts of sea life in the area and washing up on shore.

Other parts of the world don't care nearly as much about the environment as we do.

If you use imported products. If you love your DSLR. If you want your TV to turn on in 15 seconds. If you prefer a computer over a abacus. If you enjoy all the conveniences of modern life. You are part of the reason these ecological disasters happen.

How can you say they don't care. They make money on successfully shipping product, not sinking it. Withtout the cargo there would be no need for the ship. And you may not get that camera you so wanted. Of course it's all insured. I'm pretty sure they do care if they want to stay in business. If it were yours and it's at the bottom already...wouldn't you want the insurance money. after all, it's what it's taken out for.

It has always been about the money. Today is no different from the days of the caravans on the Silk Road.
