Just wanted to let you know, your log mover looks very much like a pipe cart.
As a pipe fitter for over 30 years we had many an instance where we used these
pipe carts to move large diameter pipe. Your moving logs with it is a good
idea, it shows there are many functions for the same ideas.

It will be a long process until my help gets back from Alaska but it will be done this year.

I've been researching building with logs and saw it on pinterest. I found a mobile home axle on craigslist for $40 and cut it and re welded it into the U-shape. welded a hook on the front end to hook the come-a-long to and a pulley above the upsidedown U with a hole below to run the cable thru. Works great. I've moved 28' logs with it. My father in law was a union pipe fitter for his career of 35 years. He speaks fondly of "the trades".

Thanks Dave. Saw a beautiful cobra today at the car show. I'll keep everyone posted.

The more the merrier. Would be open to any and all constructive criticism or ideas. This is my first working with logs in this big of a project. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I hope your house is not very big.

Just came up with a thought on your comment. Were you referring to the amount of logs for the project? If so these logs are strictly for the gable. This photo is similar to what I will be building. Just the part over the front deck in the photo.

Mine will have to be. We're not far from the Columbia River gorge and the winds can really blow thru there. When the winds are really blowing we get a lot of it as our house is on the top edge of a canyon with Cedar Creek running thru it. It has blown over 100' fir trees close to the house and blown metal roofing loose. Everything has to be built to withstand the winds and heavy rain.

And being on the West Coast, it doesn't hurt if it is a little quake resistant also! I'm sure when California finally slides into the Pacific Ocean, it will rattle your neighborhood as well.

I'm sure it will. We're about 20 miles south of the peak of Mt. St. Helens, as the crow flies, and we have small tremors here daily. Most you can't even feel.
