Religion and science differ by virtue of their operation. The discipline of science seeks to describe the natural world by use of the scientific method. The belief system of religion provides an explanation of the otherwise unknown: the hereafter and the spiritual realm.

Either that, or the electrical activity of our brains will fade after death, and our last thoughts will be: “What the F….?” Then thought will cease, and the processes of decay will commence.

I used to think that the consciousness would somehow become allied with some sort of “uber-mind” or racial consciousness, but there does not appear to be any supporting evidence of that possibility.. Certainly not enough power to project consciousness and somehow “join” an uber-mind would be generated by electrical synapses at death.

More likely is the cessation of senses, with smell, feeling, smell, taste, sight, bodily sensations (e.g. pain)and lastly hearing being our last conscious realizations. Studies of expiring persons seem to indicate this is the standard progression.

As to what happens afterward, that is an unprovable subject that nobody ACTUALLY knows anything about—other than the speculations of proponents of faith and religion.
All adherents being FAITH BASED with NO rigorously indicated scientifically verifiable evidence or verifiable data.

If persons wish to BELIEVE in unsubstantiated claims WITHOUT VERIFIABLE EVIDENCE that is a personal choice. A choice that has not, and is not verifiable while we are alive. The bottom line is: We do not know!

Faith seems to be the unprovable based upon the unknowable promoted by the the unthinking.

Prove to yourself Jesus didn’t exist that he didn’t die on the cross and rose again.
Disprove that and you disprove Christianity.

You have this whole thing backwards. Those that have made the assertions that Jesus was divine, and that he was resurrected are those that need to provide proof.

I would grant that there was a person named Jesus, that he was a religious personage, and that he was crucified by Roman administrative actions (at the request of other religious and political factions).

Any burden-of-proof rests upon those making the original arguments—namely that Jesus was the “direct son of God”, and that he was resurrected in the manner described many (many!) years after the supposed event.

Well, if it leads to a theory by the wrong person about the wrong subject supported by the wrong facts, apparently it IS worth AT LEAST a paragraph!

True enough. Death is the ultimate ‘leveler’. The be-all and end-all of all things!

And wh**ever does or does-not occur afterwards nobody knows.

There are THEORIES and STORIES and BELIEFS, but no direct verifiable evidence. No individual has “come back” (other than in story) to give any answer.
