I have heard many commentators at photo competitions make disparaging comments about the "layer cake" effect of this type of photo. I have always felt they are wrong and this one is one of the best I have seen. A real beauty.

Very nice image that just shouts "blue ridge" and "smokies" and the layering is well balanced foreground to background. This image is more than the sum of its' parts. Good show, good job
