Thanks, Bonsai123. That's very encouraging. Hope you are well and having a great week. jak

Jak, great shots! I am a bit of a "bird-brain" in that I have had a Scarlet Macaw, my father in law had Blue & Gold macaws, Green Wing macaws, African Greys, double yellow headed parrots, on and on. I am amazed that some of them live in SoCal where I grew up (SFV, not Orange County). Just wonderful shots and memories of my birds.

A friend and I went out yesterday specifically looking for parrots here in Southern California. They are surprisingly common...probably because of the mild-to-tropical weather we experience. I've seen flocks in the middle of downtown Los Angeles, in several parks in Santa Ana, and over near Knotts Berry Farm, so urban sprawl doesn't faze them. Here are a few photos I was able to capture. The Lilac-crowned parrot shot was taken across the Santiago Creek bed, maybe 120 yards away...not the sharpest...included for comparison. All photos were shot with a Nikon D500 using a Nikkor 200-500mm telezoom, hand held. Hope you enjoy.

We're planning to go out to find more parrot species next week. If I get any good shots, maybe I'll post them.
