This came up on my Facebook Marketplace. Selling Nikon’s for 90% off. I took screenshots of the adds. I bet they will pull in some poor soul.

I wonder how long it will be before the 100 d850s I ordered arrive? I'm going to make a mint. LMAO. Sad world we live in sometimes.

The part that amazes me the most is that Facebook will ban/suspend people for comments they make but won't patrol these types of pretty obvious ripoff ads. Perhaps the money they make from allowing these to be posted blinds them to the potential ripoffs. In some ways, I think this makes them complicit.

True. Since they choose what to ban they are approving of what they don’t ban.

Right on! The old adage, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is, applies here.

Someone asked if the OP had reported the ad, with no response. It would be pretty hard for Facebook to proactively check every ad and determine if it were legit. But if someone reported this kind of ad to Facebook, and they left it up, then it's on them.

Why not??? Facebook proactively checks posts to ascertain if they fit the guidelines/narrative that Facebook deems appropriate. I'm sure someone reporting the ad might help. I've seen nothing on how FB handles questionable ads.

Experienced photographers know it is impossible to buy a brand new Nikon camera for 90% off. To begin with they know Nikon will never allow that type of sale or advertisement.
The inexperienced one is another story and they could easily fall for this.
