OK I would like something clearing up for me. Some time ago I had a discussion with a friend about the Eagles I said their best stuff was country and western. He argued that no way were they country. I used Lying Eyes as an example. Any thoughts on this?

I'm 78 and I can't remember ever hearing the Eagles on a Country Music station! I never considered anything they did as Country Music.

The world’s greatest drummer, the late Mr Buddy Rich, was in the hospital and asked if he was allergic to anything. He replied, “Two things, country and western.” I have the same allergies.

I wish you had included Hank and Waylon but there are a score of others you probably wanted to mention too.

Last summer I was driving with a seven year old grandson and couldn't find any music that we both liked so I started playing old tunes that I had saved on my phone.

He wasn't impressed until an old obscure Johnny Cash song came up. He immediately perked up and said, "Hey, that's Johnny Cash. play him." I guess there may be some hope for the world after all.

I wasn't going to click that link, but am I ever glad I did. Thank you so much for sharing that. Always liked Alan Jackson. Used to listen to him a lot when I was on the road somewhere in my 18 wheeler. That just might be his best one yet; because I,m getting older, and older, and older. You can always tell when you are really getting older, because if you feel what he is singing about it brings a tear or two to your eyes and it brings back memories.
