He did it on the ACM awards. His first song was not up to his standards, but he did a great job on this one.

It’s hard to find someone who really sings country today.

I get a hoot when someone tells me that they enjoy "country music" for I'm able to respond with, "What country do you like?"

I wasn't going to click that link, but am I ever glad I did. Thank you so much for sharing that. Always liked Alan Jackson. Used to listen to him a lot when I was on the road somewhere in my 18 wheeler. That just might be his best one yet; because I,m getting older, and older, and older. You can always tell when you are really getting older, because if you feel what he is singing about it brings a tear or two to your eyes and it brings back memories.

OK I would like something clearing up for me. Some time ago I had a discussion with a friend about the Eagles I said their best stuff was country and western. He argued that no way were they country. I used Lying Eyes as an example. Any thoughts on this?

Many years ago (back in the 60's), I worked as a DJ and Engineer for a radio station in Roanoke, VA. We played a lot of Big Band music, plus singers like Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Doris Day, etc. The station changed format to country, and I had to be on the air pretending I liked that (to me) horrible sounding "music".

I immediately started looking for another job. Fortunately, an engineering job became available in their TV station. I applied for it and was successful.

I know there are many country music fans, but I'm just not one of them.

Definitely country western. But the Eagles walk a fine line between country and Western and rock. I enjoy their music either way.
