You might want to share your insights with Sony, who is determined to take over the Professional market with their Sony A1 - 30 FPS - 50 MP Full Frame camera.

Every sports photographer knows a home run is worth more than two doubles, and so is a full frame camera.

Could not agree more...the A1 shows that anything an APS-C camera can do a full frame camera can do it better.

If they don't have low end cameras, they will lose a lot of sales, but the profit from expensive cameras might offset the loss. After all, profit is the only thing that matters.

Yes. Profit pays for salaries, benefits, expansion, and the creation of more jobs. It does matter.

Sony's discontinuance of the A6300 and A6500 may signal the starting point for APS-C taking over the top of the camera "food chain". It is suspected Sony's stopping of the A6300 and A6500 will be followed by an eventual release of very high end APS-Cs rivaling the high end full frames. I personally think Sony sees photographers as wanting smaller, lighter, and less costly which Sony does not believe they can fully achieve with full frame. The shape of photography in the future could become very interesting.

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines Opinion as:
~~~ "a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
AND, it (Webster) gives the Example as:
~~~ "I'm writing to voice my opinion on an issue of great importance"

In view of the above, I think you are "Right On Target" with "your fulfillment of the definition"

You have Titled your posting with the question: "Industry consultant right?"
... and then you began to "Pontificate" your opinion.. but I see no name of an industry consultant?

Can you help us by point to some important high-level CEO, Consultant, or Engineer who has expressed the same opinion as to the one you have listed...

As for me, and other UHH Members, we like to be informed with facts and data... I would love to read the data.

Cheers

In what respect?

My impression is that Sony is eliminating some bodies from the a6xxx line because there exists consumer confusion in the series as to what, exam. A6600 has over an A6500, therefore eliminating one helps to distinguish models from each other making the “what should I buy decision” easier.

Simple and obvious. Promotes no rumor.

Particulars are irrelevant to a general concept. Just put a UV filter on it and don’t worry about it.

Should the ultimate high performance camera available happen to have a FF sensor, that would have zero impact on the validity of the generality as stated.

I’m questioning your comment that: “the highest performance cameras currently available are the top tier of m4/3, confirming that the smaller formats facilitate maximum design potential.” and asking in what respect you can demonstrate that m4/3 are the “highest performance cameras current available”. Are you using some arcane metric like pixels/lb?

Profit is what's left over after expenses.

"Profit describes the financial benefit realized when revenue generated from a business activity exceeds the expenses, costs, and taxes involved in sustaining the activity in question. Any profits earned funnel back to business owners, who choose to either pocket the cash or reinvest it back into the business."

Pixels/pound is as good as any. Not at all what I had in mind ... but sounds like a very UHH parameter. Too many Hogsters seem sadly unable to accommodate any wholistic concepts or vision. It’s retchedly disgusting for a gaggle of so-called visual artists :-(

Highest performance means highest total performance. Your need to pick things apart and apply specific metrics is very UHH. I’m not biting.

You wrote it, so let’s see you defend this strange proposition, or are you just being a contrarian/devil’s advocate for fun?
