While "Union Forever" is a slogan from the Civil War, the problems in the auto industry are not the fault of unions. Rather, the Big Three just made crappy cars while Europeans and Japan were were making better cars. For the most part the Audis, VWs, Kias, etc, are made in this country , providing jobs for American workers.

I think the union workers did shoddy work. I'm not sure if all foreign names autos produced in the US are union shops.

Unions don't build cars, workers do. Companies that treat workers fairly don't get unionized.

So - I am not buying the argument that small sensors are just as good as a full-frame sensor.

You mean what we used to call "miniature format"?

So auto, steel, coal, and trucking all treated their workers unfairly??

I worked in lower management in a sizable non-union corporation. Upper management were scared to death of unionization. Management at all levels attended classes on how to keep unions out. One of the big points was to show listen sympathetically to workers concerns, treat them fairly, and see that they are fairly rewarded for the work they do. I retired years ago and the corporation is still not a union shop.

Workers in this country can't make it on $5.00 an hour. Coal miners are losing jobs to mechanization in a dying industry while they themselves are dying slow deaths from blacklung. I haven't noticed too many Chinese and Vietnamese truck drivers on our roads lately.
