Looks dead and better down than falling on a car from the way it was leaning, at least you have some lovely pictures of it..

Thank you very much Val happy you enjoyed the pictures. Apparently the horse enjoyed rubbing up against it!

Sad to see a photogenic tree like that come down even though it was inevitable. Glad that you have such a collection of great photos, Sylvia.

Thank you very much John for looking in and your kind comments, always appreciated.

Great historical series of the tree. Sometimes, of necessity, they need to be removed. Dangers of limbs falling, bug infestation spreading to other trees. Regardless of the circumstances it is sad! Good photos Sylvias.

Pleased you enjoyed them Jeff and thank you very much for your kind comments, always appreciated. Will have to go in search of another favourite tree!

Do you know the species of that tree?
Dave

I spoke to the farmer yesterday and he said it was a walnut tree. Thank you very much for looking in Dave.

Great set. Ive done the same thing with the old barns and buildings for the last six years. We keep them in our historical societys arcives. A number of them are no longer standing. Keep up the good work.

Thank you very much Hal for your kind comments and interesting information. I will now go in search for another favourite tree!

I think one of my favorite things on this earth is trees, bless your heart for documenting this one and doing it so well. One of the joys of winter is to see the trees without their foliage and witness their true character. Thanks again for this one, I consider it a gift!

Phil

So lovely to hear from you my friend hope you and yours are keeping well. Happy you enjoyed my favourite dead tree and thank you so very much for your kind comments. Yesterday I spoke to the farmer who said it was a walnut tree and when the rain stops we are going to pick up a momento.

Feeling a little sad today. Bob went out for his usual early 4 mile walk before the birds woke up. When he came home he said he had some sad news. I have posted shots of my favourite dead tree in all seasons. It has coped with gales, rain, snow and sunshine. Every time I walked up the lane and turned the corner it was there standing proud and I would say “hello tree”. No more.....

I went out this morning to take a look, say goodbye and took a few shots of the remains. I will ask the farmer why it was cut down.

The first shot was taken in 2013 when I started taking photos.

Canon 650D,18-55mm lens.
