Feeling a little sad today. Bob went out for his usual early 4 mile walk before the birds woke up. When he came home he said he had some sad news. I have posted shots of my favourite dead tree in all seasons. It has coped with gales, rain, snow and sunshine. Every time I walked up the lane and turned the corner it was there standing proud and I would say “hello tree”. No more.....
I went out this morning to take a look, say goodbye and took a few shots of the remains. I will ask the farmer why it was cut down.
The first shot was taken in 2013 when I started taking photos.

Great shots of a great tree. I hope the wood is put to good use.

Nice shots.
Dead trees are dangerous and can be a source of disease and bad bugs is why removing them is appropriate.
Nice series. That tree was certainly photogenic for you. Perhaps taken down to prevent it falling on the fence?
Sad to know, but you have a fantastic series of photos to enjoy, Sylvia. Thanks for the update.

I enjoyed your set. This is one of the reasons, as a photographer, I photograph for the moment. There are beautiful things that will have a beginning and, with the march of time, will have an end. With flowers, the time is but a season. For some trees, like Colorado and California bristlecone pine, it can be thousands of years. But time will eventually take everything. You should ask the farmer if you can have a reminder of your former friend to take home.
Sad ending for a wonderful tree. It is easy to see why you loved that tree. All the shots of it are beautiful.
I can see why you’re so fond of this tree, Sylvia. For someone who is a nature lover and a photographer, as we both are, a tree like this becomes very special. How fortunate you have so many beautiful images to remember it by. Thanks for sharing.
What a great series. I suspect the farmer did not want the tree falling on the fence or into the road. I have had to cut down some picturesque old dead trees myself.
Wow, that was a neat old tree but it was rotten and dangerous and thus, had to come down. At least you have some great shots of it but now, you will have to find a new friend.
Great tribute set for a great tree, Sylvia. That tree was more photogenic than most live trees.

Beauty in nature passed away to be cut down. Curious...did you have a name for that tree?
Know how you feel. There was a great Eagle tree nearby that I visited often. When it blew down it was very sad.
Excellent set Sylvia, it's always a shame to see a tree die away.
