I doubt that a dog could find a better place to roam. Wide open spaces and the beauty of nature surrounding them everywhere. I suspect that they knew that there would be a meal waiting for them when their jaunt was over and time for their long nap.

You are absolutely right, much safer than Suburbia, which doesn't mitigate my anxieties. I suppose a residue from having kids - I worry. They came home, ate, and were lazy the rest of the day. Be surprised if they weren't running or at least trotting most of the time they were out.

Once in a great while, my dearly beloved dam' dogs decide to go on an extended morning ramble. They were still gone after half an hour, so had to boot up and go after them. 27° so of course I had scrape the windows. They like to ride in the vehicles, so will usually come at high speed just for a ride. Anyway, the light was good, so on the third pass I brought the D3 AF S Nikkor 24-85 1: 3.5 4.5 G on and snapped a few shots of nearby scenery. Despite my efforts, they came home for breakfast went they felt like it having had a nice two and a half hour adventure.

No pictures of the dogs so I'm guessing that they didn't have apologetic enough expressions to suit the situation?
Nice central Montana landscapes anyway!

Never did catch them, Chief. Came home when they wanted to. The light is good early, and with the older D3 I don't mind going out in the cold, so got the photos - generated by dog misbehavior and light. Thanks!

Yes, a kind of compromise between the Western part of the state which is mountainous , and the Eastern which is flattish. Works for me, I couldn't have afforded a nice property further west.

Nice set QD, I called Great Falls home for my time in the USAF. It's almost like two states in one. From Great Falls, I'd go east to see this kind of beauty and west for the "majestic" as you put it. Either way Montana is just a beautiful place!

Thanks a lot, unfortunately many absorbed by bigger ranches and abandoned.
