I was photographing a pair of nesting eagles when I heard the loudest seagull screech I have ever heard. When I looked over I saw a seagull chasing the eagle screeching at him. From what I’ve read seagulls will chase eagles if they get too close to the seagulls babies or food. The article went on to say that the seagulls are more agile in the air than the eagle so it’s unlikely the eagle will catch it. If it does, however, it’s game over for the seagull. The eagle also doesn’t care about the seagull. Here are a few photos. This is either the bravest (or dumbest) seagull. OK, the last one is not an eagle but this little guy signals that Spring is here. And he looks good in the apple tree.

Very nice set of images, Doug.
Around here the mockingbirds and the crows regularly chase away red-shouldered hawks.

A few years ago I was at the rear of the parking lot of the local Panera Bread having a cigarette break when I caught some unusual movement and noise in my peripheral vision to the left. It was a mocking bird who seemed to be repeatedly flying to the left and being quite vocal.

I turned and looked and saw a rather large redtail hawk sitting on a branch about 20 feet from me. The mocking bird kept flying right at the hawk and bumping him as he flew by. I thought that's either one really brave...or very stupid mocking bird.

After a few minutes the hawk had enough of this and flew from the tree only to be immediately chased by 2 crows. Sometimes you just can't win.

A brave bird indeed, not too smart, but brave.

Not for nothing but, that eagle doesn't seem to worried. Like the last photo.

Great sequence and those more agile birds do get away with harassing the eagles.

Several species of birds, some considerably smaller than Seagulls, will harass large Raptors in flight. Sometimes it appears they're doing it just for the fun of it although who knows what a bird is thinking. Upon occasion I've seen the Raptor do an in air somersalt in an apparent attempt to catch the harassing bird in it's claws but have never observed a successful attempt. Sorry, I don't recall the names of those species at the moment.

Very nice captures, thanks for posting them.
