Beautiful set Eugene, we'd like to visit there some day. We've got a port call in Sibenik Croatia, about 280km north, on a cruise next year.

Your message made me interested in this 1985 USS Saratoga visit. There is another detail to it. This visit was delayed due to the operation involving the carrier’s aircraft in forcing Egyptian charter flight with hijackers of the cruise liner Achille Lauro to land in Sicily, were they were arrested. This fact probably provide more time for those Italian pros to arrive to greet the seamen.
Thanks, Bill, much appreciate your attention.
Yes, this followed the Achille Lauro incident where the terrorist hijackers pushed a crippled Jewish man in a wheelchair into the ocean to drown.
The Navy also transferred other ship's sailors to the USS Saratoga for that docking, so the "fleet was in".
The lesson: Check with the prostitutes for US Navy ship docking schedules.
A coastal brush fire swept over the Dubrovnik hotel where my wife and I stayed--no harm to the fireproof hotel so everyone was safe.
I was at an oilman's convention south of Dubrovnik. The highway was closed because of the fire, so we walked back in the smoke. A number of those Yugo-Slav's attending were veterans from WW2. I was much younger and physically fit, but struggled to keep up with them--tough people.
Nice pictures of a beautiful ancient city.
