That seems to be the normal situation, Mike, always wishing for a longer lens or a macro. But you can't bring them all, and you did well.

I took my long lens on Monday to Bear River. I will post shots from there later.

Never had the pleasure to see a yellow headed blackbird, nor a blackbird with white on it's wings. Beautiful bird. My blackbirds have yellow, orange, and red on their wings, but other than the black everywhere else that's all the color I've ever seen on a blackbird.

These shots are from just south of Salt Lake City, Utah. The yellow-heads are just arriving. The red-winged blackbirds have been here for a while.
