When I took the dogs out for a walk I had my flower lens on. I then saw the first yellow-headed blackbird (YHBB) of the season. We detoured to the lake and I got the attached shots. I wish I had a good long lens with me, but these are 85mm grabs.

If you get images this good, why wish for a different lens?

Darn good! We haven't seen them but our Rancher Friends NE of us have had flocks pass through for the first time!

Mike, you used the perfect lens - the one you had with you! These are great shots. We don't have these beauties in this part of the world.

Very nicely done, Mike. The 85mm served you well for this set.

These shots are extreme crops and do not have the detail I get with my long lens.

Thanks, QD. If things are normal we will soon have many of these migrants at they pass through.

I am making a run to Bear River on Monday because Mia has posted some good shots from there lately.

Thanks, Carol, I saw them first when we moved here. They will occupy a great deal of our lake soon.
