Yeah, you're right. I worked on them for twenty years in the Navy. It took a lot of maintenance to keep them flying safely. And they still fell out of the air sometimes. I would rather know something about the use of parachutes than to just hope and pray.

Thanks Mike. No, I think these guys are part of the Army jump demo team, or wannabees. But they are using the Jump School facilities at Yuma.

Yuma Proving Grounds hosts a special warfare training center that teaches high low parachuting for the Army Special Forces and the Navy Seals. They run several classes each year and students learn to egress aircraft at very high altitudes and free fall to low altitude opening.

Thanks. I didn't know that. We spend winters there sometimes at the on base RV Park. We have watched them doing that many times. Every once in awhile they do demonstration jumps and they are GOOD!. They have an X marks the spot target to land on and they come in about 20 seconds apart. The guy just landing has to run out of the way to make room for the next guy, and the next, and the next. Amazing! I did a couple jumps when I was a young man and decided that wasn't what I wanted to do on a regular basis, but it was fun! But I was no where close to the skill those guys have.
