Steady hands! I never liked the 28-300 lens and didn't take long to get rid of it. Generally, I don't care for wide span zooms, it's just asking too much of a single lens IMHO.

Very good set quixdraw, especially enjoyed the silhouette against the lovely sky.

Very nice night work, QD. I always like to see interesting skies and you captured them well.

Thank you very much - isn't it usually the light!

Nice shots QD; like the one with brake lights. A decent lens used within its limitations.

Thank you! Once you get into the wide range zooms, there is a price to be paid!

Still pretty steady for a codger. I keep thinking that I will put the thing on one of my Nikons, and it will be like the 200-500 on the D7200 or the macro 105 2.8D on the D810. No such luck. Will probably sell that and also the older 80-400 which has behaved the same but for a shorter time. I've read good things about the newest Nikon 70-300, supposed to be short, light, and sharp. The endless quest!

Rolled out to a friend's Ranch in the Big Open for dinner and conversation. Instead of one of the newer cameras I took the D3. Pretty normal when I'm working with a camera to try it for most things I might do with one of the newer cameras. I put the AF S Nikkor 28-300 3.5 5.6 G on, not a favorite, but flexible. Weather was not cooperative, none of the promised rain, but cloudy till we were leaving. The sun had set with just a bit of light over the hills these two were at a sixth and fifth of a second hand held. The second benefits from brake lights, a trick I'll remember While we were visiting, we were invited to come see the Sharptails Dance at Dawn, that will be another thread. The Elevator, a favorite subject, this morning on the way.
