Buying a used prime lens from B&H . Has anyone had any experience with their used products & do they offer any warranty?

Great company to do business withLucky!
B&H has a 30-day return policy that allows you to return an item for a full refund if you're dissatisfied with it for any reason.

I've done business with B&H for both new and used gear for more than 30 years. They are utterly reliable and very helpful in that classic New York City way (curt and to the point, but not intending to be rude ).

You should ask them about warranty on the specific item you're considering. I may be wrong, but think it might vary depending upon condition, with the higher condition rating being warranted longer. This is in addition to their "no questions asked" right of return, which was 14 days last time I checked. In other words, if for any reason you don't like the item you buy, simply return it within two weeks and they'll refund your money. The warranty period then kicks in after that for some additional time (at least 90 days, last time I noticed). This covers you if the item fails for any reason during that time. If that happens (which is rare), contact them, return the item and they'll either repair or replace it with an equivalent item. I'm sure their website has more details on both the right of return and their warranties.

I've found B&H's ratings for used items to be conservative, if anything. Everything I've ever bought used from them has been better than I expected, based upon how they had rated it. (Same is true of KEH and Adorama's used dept. Henry's in Canada is another good source. Usedphotopro.com, the online used gear store for Roberts Camera, is another I've had good experiences with. I've heard very good things about MPB.com too, though I haven't bought from them yet.)

Nothing but good things to say about B&H, bought quite a lot of stuff from them, new & used. My favorite is Roberts Used Photo Pro - 180 day guarantee on used, good condition on up. Hard to beat, their prices & service are excellent as well.

Check the lens for de-centering. It can occur if the lens has been dropped. It can also come from the factory that way because of poor quality control. If there is de-centering, you should exchange the lens right away. I purchased the Zeiss Star Test chart from B&H Photo to check my lenses. You can download the chart as well. Here are some shots I took when I was testing my lenses for de-centering. You initially focus accurately and then put the star chart a little out of focus. If the center dot remain round, everything is good. If it becomes football shaped, there is de-centering. Here is an excellent video about the topic.

Not a thing to worry about with them or Adorama. Unique Photo in Nj is pretty good! KEH is also a keeper!

Can't go wrong with B&H, but I've had great experiences with usedphotopro.com (part of Robert's camera).

I have bought and traded used lenses with them as recently as last year. Prices on both ends are very fair and their assessment of the condition of the lenses is very accurate. They are a great business to deal with.

If you buy something from them be sure to sign up for their Payboo credit card. If you use it to buy from them they will refund your sales tax.
