It looked like fungus

Thank you. But I have to correct the idea that these are "before and after" shots. They were taken all at the same time, just different arms and different cactus. There are about 10 cactus on that corner, and each one has several arms. They are flowering at slightly different rates.

Probably not! They'd burst from overwatering. You guys have that natural watering system, right? Comes from the sky?
