One less thing to break when you don't a mirror. Then again, one might say that the mirror protects the sensor. My Olympus camera, which is 4/3's, has 1/8000 of a second shutter speed or up 1/32000 speed using the electronic shutter. The frame rate is up 60 frames for a second using the electronic shutter. I wouldn't want to do that with a mirror. Anyway, if you are happy with your camera and prefer one to another, that is your business and not mine. The main thing to me is enjoy using it.
I can't believe we will battery powered Armored Equipment in the military. A tank runs down its battery and "It's time out for a recharge, only 5 hours. And the bring in a gas generator the charge it in the battle field."
In The US Tank school, the following are definitions, as appropriate, by the different organizations that support the tank:
In the tank gunnery school, you are taught that if your tank could move, and communicate but could not shoot, what you had was a worthless tank.
In the tank propulsion school, you are taught if your tank could shoot, and communicate, but could not move, what you had was a worthless tank.
in the tank communication school, you are taught that if your tank can move, and communicate, but can not shoot, what you have essentially is a 52-ton portable radio.

How many mirrors or shutters have you ever had to replace in your life? For me it is zero and I have been shooting quite a while.

Tanks a lot for that information. Very useful in NYC. But if you had a camera you would have a very stable platform.

NYC? Better hope your tank shoots, the heck with communication or propulsion...
Going by this discussion, I expect to see ridiculously better images from mirrorless photographers than DSLR photographers.
Better in then mind of the owners or better in reality?

I have a feeling we'll be reading more about the outstanding results over seeing them. haha

Since all my cameras have mirrors (film and digital) and all my lenses fit those cameras, I don't plan to change to a mirrorless camera. Not only would I have the cost of a new camera, I'd have to buy new lenses as well.
Keep telling yourself that.
The naysayers see failure in every opportunity. The successful buy a mirrorless camera.

I’ve encountered various jammed SLRs over the years. You can ask how many failed shutters or mirrors cuz it’s one big messy heap of linkages. OTOH I have never seen a jammed Graphic, Mamiya Press, Graflex XL etc cuz these cameras have zero linkages. The middle ground is non-SLRs with film wind linked to shutter cock, plus double exposure prevention. Those jam much less than SLRs, by my observation. I’ve also seen a very few live view cameras quit. Can’t say they jam cuz nothing’s moving, but electrons don’t always go where and when we’d prefer them to go :-(
There is little comparison of new sensors and the software. I shoot Canon and they over engineered the EF-RF adapter. Many of my EF mounts lenses produce images on my EOS R than on my old DSLR.
