Just remember that for the most part that photo contests utilize “subjective” judging. I have yet to enter a photograph in a contest where a rubric for adjudication was made available ahead of time. I once entered three photos in a contest. Two were accepted. I then entered the unaccepted photo in another contest and it was awarded a financial prize and won. There is often no rhythm or reason to wrap your head around with regard to photo contest outcomes. If you like the photo and you are proud of it, enter it. If you win then wonderful. My advice is that if it falls short of your hopes and expectations, don’t self-judge your work against that one adjudication of your photo(s). In saying all of that, personally, I would encourage you to enter that photo in multiple contests!
Great shot ( and lucky, too!) I would definitely enter it. Good Luck. Let us know if you win!
Very much so. Stunning capture.
Super image - judges are fickle - good luck
I've never seen anything like it and have been involved in photography competitions for 40 years.
Photo contest judging is either so subjective that you can't know what might win (unless you personally know the judges), or it is so technical that the image is sometimes secondary. What subjects get to the judges emotions? Or do they actually measure the elements in the scene to see if the rule of thirds or some other "rule" was perfectly followed. I have had "winners" for each reason, each time just by chance.

For me it is a very good photo but it is difficult to know what is happening in the mind of the judges of the contest

I'm not keen on it Brent, it doesn't sit easy with me. I can see why one (at least - I didn't read all the comments) thinks it might be a composite, but the sun is higher in your part of the world so you may well get rays and a bow in the same shot.
If you enter, put a frame on it - also previously mentioned.
Great shot! I've never seen a rainbow and lightning at the same time before. But… do NOT put a border on it if you want to win. Many contests will not accept photos with borders, as they are distracting. The same goes for publishers. They will not accept any photo for publication that has a border on it. I was in the publishing world for many years, and that was always the case – instant rejection! (No, I was not the one doing the rejecting).

Hell yes. It's Passover for us Jews, but this is one Kick-Ass shot.
