What do residents of the UK call the pull-out things in a cabinet?
In the US it can also refer to clothes below the waist. If you sit in a wet chair, you'll get your drawers wet.

Ha ha, we call the pull-out things drawers also.

Pronunciation?
I pronounce like dr-oars (dr-ores). But if you pronounce oars or ores differently than we do,

I've always pronounced "drawer" "drawr," but I recently heard a woman from Canada on YouTube pronouncing it "draw-er," like someone who draws. Is that pronunciation common in certain areas?

My former neighbor, who was a French Canadian transplant via Manchester, NH, pronounced it that way, too.

We pronounce those words the same way you have written them. One difference that comes up sometimes is the word route. You pronounce it correctly but we pronounce it as root.

That's interesting... I use both pronunciations. R-out and root. I suppose it depends on how I feel at the time???

Might be a regional thing. Queen's English? I visited the Buffalo area once and at least in that part of up state NY they have no accent, they sound the same as (most) people in California. In some places especially the South they say Wash as Worsh or Ask as Ax.

I have a friend from Hong Kong and she speaks more formal sounding Queen's English. It is funny since she is Chinese and yet speaks and writes in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Japanese (since she at one time worked there before moving to the USA).
Might be a regional thing. Queen's English? I vi... (show quote)

EVERYONE has an accent. Many words have regional (US) variations in pronunciation and phraseology. Many people in Buffalo have a Great Lakes accent which certainly differs from CA. People from California speak very fast but is otherwise close to the standard accent.
