Jerry I am amazed of that little storm cloud that follows you around.. Do you remember that little fellow in the Little Abner comics, whom had that Storm cloud following Him.. Wishing you better luck on down the road.. If you ever discover what has caused this , please let me know so I don"t make the same mistake.. thank you...

Also check out the NOCO line of Genius jump packs. We sell them at Batteries Plus. Amazon also carries them.

Yes, I saw them, but the TackLife tested very well.

I just carry a simple set of jumper cables in each car I have. There’s always someone around to give you a lift.
One of my vehicle batteries is in the floorboard under the passenger seat and another is in the drivers side wheel well.

As I was sitting in the car, I thought about my jumper cables sitting in the garage. But then I realized that I'd have to walk around the parking lot, in the rain, looking for a car with someone inside. Remember these are people getting injections so they don't die from a disease they might catch from someone. My car was parked straight into the outer parking space, so no jumper cables would be long enough to reach.

I used to have a similar one, but the battery finally died. Newer ones have lithium-ion batteries with high peak amp ratings and are very small. The one that arrives today has 1200 peak amps, although those ratings are always exaggerated.

That made me check your location.

Our USA batteries become "dead."

The car should have told me!

I was thinking about getting one of those devices that cuts off battery power when it is getting too low to start the car. Too expensive, though.

My daughter got me an emergency auto backpack for Christmas. I has most everything you would need in an emergency; flares, jumper cables, a canister to fix flats, shovel etc. I would highly recommend it. I never needed this stuff until the day after she gave it to me. It even has drinking water and first aid things. All in a compact backpack.

Very good idea. I've always carried a tire repair kit, tire inflator, and first aid kit.

Jerry, you shop Sam’s Club, so go on their site and order the Stanley unit. Beside being a battery booster it has a pump for tire inflation and an LED light in case you need to change a tire at night I’ve had one for about five years and it holds a charge really well. I use it often to inflate bike tires.

Thanks!

My wife & I went out for a contactless pickup and I was a victim of my own negligence (left on the lights while waiting). Always have jumper cables so I was able to engage a gentleman to assist. As he was pulling up next to us, another man walked over and asked if I minded letting him try try to jump it. He had a battery jumper in his hand. In less than 30 seconds we were up and running. He told me he bought it on QVC over a year ago, had only used it once, but hadn't recharged it at all since he bought it. It was a Halo Volt. Back home, it took me about 4-5 minutes to unload the groceries and before I got my coat off my wife told me Amazon would deliver our Halo in 2 days. It was one of those rare moments I was smart enough not to say 'Thank you' and be silent.

I opted for the TACKLIFE, and received it today. The battery was at 85%, so it's now being charged.

My only concern between the two was the fact that capacitors have to be reformed if not used for a period of time. On my electronic flashes, it's only a matter of a few pops periodically, but I just wonder about how to discharge the capacitor on one of the Autowizzes.

85% on arrival seems to be standard, from what I've seen on YouTube. I had the same concern about the capacitor unit - and it's more expensive.

I recently picked up a nice new set of jumper cables at a second hand store for $12. Cheap, reliable, and most people will allow you to use their battery if you have cables.

The cables are fine if one car can get close to the other.

I made it a habit a long time ago, always buy Delco batteries. They are the most reliable, period.

You are buying a label. Period!

I remember years ago when I was in retail, there were only seven battery manufacturers and over 100 brand names. GM divested themselves of many of their manufacturing units over the years.

I have a "Battery Buddy" attached to my battery. It monitors the charge in the battery and when there is only enough juice left to start the vehicle, it shuts everything down. When you are ready to go you have to reset the unit, start up your vehicle and be on your way. About $70 or so.

There are 3 manufacturer's in the U. S. Johnson Controls which makes most of the Interstate batteries, East Penn which makes a lot of the batteries you see at Sam's Club & Batteries Plus (Duracell branded), & Enersys. Enersys recently acquired Northstar who made a lot of high end AGM batteries under the X2 Power brand among otheres. Their main line is Odyssey in a red & black case. East Penn acquired a lot of the smaller manufacturers over the years. In addition to the Duracell branded batteries, they also manufacture for other smaller brands.
