Taken in misty conditions which i didn't want to loose but trying to display the bird more. Looking for your honest critique.

Juy,
I do, very much like this image, particularly for your hue and tonal features that carry through the atmosphere of the bg, the subject, and the reflection in the near fg. That’s the impact for me, and it is strong.
Exposure and focus are excellent.
It is unfortunate that the reflection is cut off in the near foreground; that fault constitutes the major compositional problem .

Impact: 4.5
Technical: 4.5
Composition: 2.5
Total:11.5/15

In spite of its deserved score, this image displays much that I admire in its impact and technical aspects. Your eye, in this image, for tone and hue management is skilled.
Best regards,
Dave

Thank you so much ! You really stroked my ego. Yes composition is my struggle. I knew the cut off reflection was a big problem. So it's back to try again. I appreciate you viewing and taking the time to comment and critique. Thank you

For a misty, fog like shot, I think you captured an excellent exposure. I think the only issues here is composition. I think the duck is a little too centered & the partial reflection is actually a distraction. As Bryan Petersen would say, after shooting the horizontal, it’s a good time to shoot the vertical. That would give you more options.

Lovely picture; very moody. Now if the head reflection were included . . . absolute winner!

Thank you for the honest critique. Yes very much agree on the reflection. As for being centered if I had moved the bird in frame I would have lost the ripples. The other direction he would be leaving the frame. As for shooting the verticle I would have surely spooked the duck as he was very close. I could not frame more as a prime lens and moving was out of the equation.
I always struggle with if it can be centered or not. I know the standard is not to center, but in some cases that is not an option. Thanks again for you honesty

Two things caught my eye. 1. The beautiful light. 2. the creamy background. It's a lovely image. I have to admit I'm a sucker for wood ducks. They are one of Nature's jewels. I often look for them but they are shy by nature. You need a lot of patience to catch them. I really like the image.

The duck is tack sharp. Blur in the reflection and background just serve to give separation. You just nailed the whole thing!
Great job.

Beautiful Shot.
If you don't have De-Noise software such as Topaz or ON1, consider it.
The grain removed will remove the grain in the background and sharpen up the subject a little.
Both programs have a free trial. Amazing stuff and will turn shots you thought were throwaways into keepers.
