Taken in misty conditions which i didn't want to loose but trying to display the bird more. Looking for your honest critique.
Beautiful! The mist gives a nice touch.
Very, very nice image!!!
Just a few of comments/opinions from a total newbie:
- It's a pity that the reflection is cut out. Would be great to have it complete, even with less space on top.
- I would try rotating just a little bit counter clock-wise. For some reason it feels tilted a little bit for me.
- I would experiment with a tighter crop on the right, to leave more space on the direction the duck looks. But probably would discard this option as the water ripples would be cut out.
Again, very nice image!

Thank you for your honest critique. Yes would have loved to had the full reflection. I was so excited with the bird being so close I was afraid to move and startle it. This has no crop at all.
I have difficulty with keeping the image straight.
Much appreciated your comments.
Bluntly honest critique: It's a little soft but, for me, it's a beautiful image. I love wood ducks. God was feeling in a particularly artistic mood the day he came up with the wood duck. It's like he took a perfectly proportioned duck and pinstriped it then did a little stippling on the breast for good measure. Beautiful shot. The softness captures the misty morning feel you were going for.

Great image. I love it. I don't understand the critique about "softness". I am looking at it on a 32 inch monitor and viewing it at 2x. At that the threads in the feathers are still very sharp. what more could the shooter do and how much sharper could he have made this image?

I agree with Juan_uy. Also, I think if you backed away to reduce the subject about 20% the feeling of the fog would be more effective. This all presumes there were other items too close that needed to be excluded.

Thank you. I was laying on the ground with a 400mm and 2x Tele. So moving back or anywhere was prohibited. I had to use what was given. So wish I had gotten the full refle tion. Thank you for your feedback .
Thank you. Always something to improve or learn from.
