Thank you I'm very pleased with the test run. No question that is is better. According to camera history this was a giant leap and kept Nikon competitive. The D2x is fun and takes good / interesting photos, but is a little "quaint" by comparison. Feature wise and operationally the D3 is very similar to my other digital Nikons.
Great camera with an image processor that's... that's... uncanny?
I don't know much about the lens your using, but I shot
a few frames with a D3 and the 24-70 f2.8... the combo
knocked my socks off and can't recommend it highly enough.
Do yourself a favour; get a 24-70 f2.8!
This image is a snap I made on the fly with the D3 and 24-70...
apart from the crop it's straight out of camera:
f/4 1/60s ISO800 70mm hand held.

I've been playing with the D3 most of the day. I have so dam' many lenses old and new that I need another lens less than I needed another camera. I agree with you that there is something remarkable about the camera and its results. The 24-85 is small and according to a variety of "experts" it is distinguished not by being wonderful, by having few flaws. Don't have the 24-70, and ex. price and size/weight it has a great rep. Before I buy more glass I need to work through current inventory and see what the camera "likes". Thanks for the tip in any case!
BTW Nice photo - reminds me of the artist Margaret Keane!

You have to remember Pro Camera or not, this puppy has 12.3 MP. Here you go.
Thanks for posting those. The downloads are impressive. That D3 captures the details really well, even with *only* 12.3 MP. Enjoy it!

Thank you! Using it is an astonishing experience. I've never been into Max MP, but there is something going on here. Many users say the D4 wasn't a big step up, may have to rent a D5 or D6 - there is a little magic in the D3.

Even with *only* 12.3 MP, the downloads are impressive. Enjoy the new gear!

Strange - got the first as well. Thanks again!
Nice set. Enjoy your new camera. Good to see someone recycling those building materials instead of just pushing them into a landfill.
Beautiful images QD! I've always thought there was something special about the sensor in the D3 and D3S - Raw files SOOC were gorgeous, and so easy to work on. I had one and gave it to my oldest daughter when she set up her studio, but missed it so much I picked up another with very low shutter-count.
Beautiful set, QD. Love the B&W images.
I believe you’re going to like it.
Nice photos, enjoy your D3 because it's a great camera!
