Not so good reviews on which one?

Vello FreeWave Plus didn't have rave reviews. I like the long distance feature. I dont know why someone panned it for astrophotography

Reviews on B&H website aren't bad at all: 4½ out of 5 stars, from 1034 reviewers. That's not too shabby.
My experience with it has been good.

The inexpensive $18 Nikon ML-L3 will work; it uses infrared so has limited distance - 16 feet in front of camera but less when used behind camera.

I've used the Vello FreeWave Plus on my D500. It's true radio wireless (2.4 GHz) rather than infrared, so has a working distance of up to 320 feet. Has settings for delay, multi-exposure and long exposure. I've been very pleased. Current price $60 at B&H or Adorama.

Reading your post reminded me I had one sitting in the back of the cabinet. Somebody had given it to me quite a while back. I opened it up to find the original batteries, still in the cellophane wrappers, but totally corroded. I guess I'll get some batteries and give it a try.

Thanks!

Best advice I received on this Topic was; If your Camera is Nikon all your Lens & accessories should be Nikon or Nikon compatible.

True.

Some things, like the Vello FreeWave Plus , are compatible with multiple cameras across multiple brands. In the case of this remote release it is just a matter of the right cord.

I have Canon camers and some Canon lens and some Tamron including their 150-600. Tamron 90 mm macro used daily in my dental office for intra-oral photography.

Check out B&H. You can get one for a few bucks & up if your just looking to release the shutter. Some have more shooting control features. I have the Vellow Shutter Boss-2. I only used it a couple of times. Works good. Most of the time I use the self timer & exposure delay that is in the camera. Might by a wireless release in the future for something like wildlife. Have fun.

Nikon MC-DC2 works fine for my D750. It's a cable that plugs into the side port of the camera. You can also use a totally remote (no cable) I think, but I don't know for sure.

Which one?
A friendly suggestion to use the "quote" function when replying, to let others know to what you refer.
