Advice from RN office manager of a kidney specialist about treatment for kidney stones: drink a six pack and stay close to the bathroom. The doc, my nephew-in-law, agreed completely.

First time I had this problem my wife took me to the ER and when they told me what the problem was the doc gave me a scrip for a pain killer until it passed. The nurse said if I liked beer, skip the pain killer and let the beer flush it out. I had her repeat that to my wife. It worked.ðŸĪŠ

This brings to mind those posters in doctors offices showing images of some poor bloke in various stages of pain that to me mean virtually nothing. What would it do to foster compassion (or perhaps scorn in some instances) if somehow we could, if only briefly, experience the pain and discomfort others are feeling?

Over the last fifty years I've had kidney stones too many times to count. Hospitalized three times because of them. They can hurt a LOT.

They seem to run in my family. My sister has had them a number of times, and also gave birth to two daughters. Sis says the stones were worse than the deliveries, so...?

I sat down and had a cold beer.
The day was really quite beautiful, and the drink facilitated some deep thinking.
My wife walked by and asked me what I was doing,
and I said, "Nothing."
The reason I said "nothing" instead of saying "just thinking" is because she then would have asked, "About what?"
At that point I would have had to explain that men are deep thinkers about various topics, which would lead to other questions.
Finally I pondered an age old question: Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the nuts?
Women always maintain that giving birth is way more painful than a guy getting kicked in the nuts, but how could they know?
Well, after another beer, and some more heavy deductive thinking, I have come up with an answer to that question.
Getting kicked in the nuts is more painful than having a baby, and even though I obviously couldn't really know, here is the reason for my conclusion:
A year or so after giving birth, a woman will often say, "It might be nice to have another child."
But you never hear a guy say, "You know, I think I would like another kick in the nuts."
I rest my case.
Time for another beer. Then maybe a nap
I mowed the lawn today, and after doing so br I sa... (show quote)

ROTFLMAO!
