The other day was cold and overcast with a few snow flurries thrown in as well. I went out with the specific intent to find subjects that would work well in b&w. I thought the weather and the monochromatic lighting would be helpful to this search. Whaddya think?

Don't know why the thumbnail is so small - download for best view, I guess...

Nice shot

Your shot is equaled only by your dedication. If your intent was to portray absolute freezing cold you accomplished that in spades. I had to wait a half hour for my monitor to thaw before I could send this.

I love how the triangle of the roof mimics and points towards the triangular mountain. A great POV and the B/W choice is perfect!
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for commenting on the mountain shape above the barn roof. I kind of felt the lines there drew the eye up into the mist above the mountain, and you confirmed that it worked! Appreciate the kind words!

Wonderful scene for b&w. I like this a lot!

Thumbnails on UHH are always reduced to 600 pixels wide, Tommy (unless the original uploaded file is smaller than that) Hot-linked images, such as from flickr, show up as whatever size the OP shares - so they often fill the page.)

Linda - Thanks for the comment and the info on image size. I messed around with the Profile Settings on the site and solved the problem! Keep smiling!

I really like this image, Tommy! It works extremely well for B&W.

I would guess the color image would be nearly B&W.

Yes, the image, with the exception of the trees, was largely monochromatic as you have surmised!

I think B&W was the way to go with this scene. It captures the mood and tone of the day. Well done.
