Nothing in the world harder to get rid of than Cable; except Sirius radio.

These companies do this ALL THE TIME. She should just stop paying the bill. She should keep any correspondence they sent in case she wants to show it later. If the only person they want to deal with later is dead. let them. They already bullyed her into 2 years of paying for stuff she didn’t want. I guess they could go after HIS credit rating.

we have had zero problems with Sirius...we turn on & off all time and switch vehicles frequently when we go to Mexico..so far they easy to deal with

She may want to check the original agreement, the terms of service that most of us never bother to read, to see what it says about termination.

OR

Find something with her husband’s signature on it, copy it onto whatever form she needs to and send it back to Comcast.

She's not looking for termination. She wants to get the service in her name and then drop the cablevision part of the subscription.

Yee gods. Putting a freeze on the auto debit would seem a legitimate step, but then that might trigger late payment charges. Try to talk to a human being on the other end of the line.

good luck with that.......

So, stop paying in his name and start an account in her own name with just what she wants.

This seems to be the logical thing to do.

First, she pays the bill by check each month. Secondly, she only wants to drop the cablevision part of the service. She wants to keep the internet and phone. The problem is that the service is in her late husband's name. The objective is to get the service in her name so that she can make changes to it.

The phone company is still like "Lilly Tomlin". We have had a lot of problems over the years with the phone going out, better recently I'll admitt. Each and every time they insist on a phone number to call, my wife goes round and round explaining the phone is out, and no cell phone service works here, same company by the way. Each time they say they will send someone out and if it is in the house we pay. Each time, we explain, never, ever in 30 years been in the house, and my wife tells them where the box is where the problem originates. Once had three guys here to fix the same thing, just did not believe us.

I suspect as more and more people drop land lines, it will only get worse, or land lines will become too expensive to use.

Real problem is that during ice we can lose both phone and internet (dish freezes over) leaving two old ones with no emergency contact method.

Two thoughts. First, she may get a better deal with a new account than trying to transfer the service. Second, she may want to get a jump on everyone and notify each credit bureau (along with a death cert?) of the situation and ask them not to accept any info relative her husbands debits etc.

The problem is that they will not let HER cancel the service. The service can be cancelled only by the person on the bill. She has submitted the form, along with the death certificate, to put the service in her name. xfinity insists on her dead husband's signature being on the transfer form. The whole thing is laughable and can probably be attributed to some little genius at xfinity who has the IQ of a fence post. It will be resolved.

Just tell her to change service providers, then stop paying the others, Spectrum would be a good choice. She can keep her phone old number and carry on like nothing happened.

I had a similar situation with a credit card. I had auto pay for an exercise company that I was quitting. I was concerned that they may continue using my card even after I terminated membership. I called the credit card company and was told I could not stop them from drawing the monthly membership fee. They had to terminate it! Thank goodness the exercise company was honest and did not charge any additional payments on my card. I was told the only solution, if they did continued drawing the monthly fee, was for me to file a protest after, with the credit card company.

Why even get that complicated? Just sign his name on the form and send it back.

Just get the local television station involved.....they love a story with lots of drama....you will be surprised how fast the problem will be resolved because companies do not like negative publicity.
