Great shots Chief! You really got this dialed in at that lake.
There's something really pleasing about the lead shot in your set for me! Colors/contrast, DOF and tack sharp!
All are great shots, like usual!

Thanks very much Rob. I do appreciate it.
Yeah the first time I've spent enough time in one place to really think I have a handle on when and where I might be able to catch something interesting. Still a lot of luck involved and spending a lot of time out there is still the key. But being familiar with the area helps a LOT.
In a couple weeks it will be time to get back on the road to someplace new and interesting. I'll still be posting but there will probably be a break for awhile until we get to someplace promising. Thanks for following along and for all the positive mojo.

Not sure about the first two little birds. Courting Red Wing Blackbird. Courting Sandhill Cranes. GBH with a Fish. American Bittern.
And the biggest Gator I have ever seen! I'm thinking about 14 feet!!
The Snowy Egret is several feet closer to the camera so he looks relatively pretty big but even at that you can see that the Gator is a Monster!
These all come from Lake Apopka yesterday.

Another excellent set, Chief! Yes, that is some gator. I like all of them, but #4 stands out for me. I noticed a number of years ago, when I toured the everglades, that there would be birds perched mere feet away from a gator. Now either gators don't feed on birds, the birds are too quick, or they know when the gators are feeding.

How is the python situation these days, Chief?

Thank you GreyOwl. Yeah #4 was a big surprise. Not that they are rare here, but I didn't know their breeding season had started. They were the farthest away that we had to photograph that day. Good thing they are big birds. Yeah, I think the birds are well educated as to gator body language. We saw a Gator that had a bird in his mouth last year but nothing we could get a lens on. Couldn't even get a good enough look to see what kind of bird it was. So I think it's a bit of all three.
We were hoping to see a big Python but no such luck. We heard a couple of news reports about one being caught but it really doesn't seem to be a big deal here. Although I know that is a big deal for any invasive species to get a foothold anywhere in the Country.
I'm glad you liked the set, thank you again!
