Looking at my To Do list, I noticed "Stihl saw." That's a reminder for me to clean and sharpen my Stihl chain saw. If I were to read that item to someone, it would take on a completely different meaning: "Steal saw."

"So what are you doing today, Jerry?"

"Well, I have to cut some firewood, so the first item on my To Do list is "Steal saw."

I had a Stihl "Farm Boss" for over 25 years and gave it to a neighbor when we moved. Between my needs, helping neighbors and volunteer work, I went through 11 chains, three bars and unknown quantities of fuel. It was still running like a champ when I left it.

That's what the Barnwood builders use and a lot

I had two and sold both after clearing land to build a few houses. They (Stihl) stopped making the Farm Boss right after I sold um. Years later I could have used one of them, I was really pissed I had sold both. It was their best saw ever. I was recently told they are once again making the FB model...Humm. Wonder if it as good as the older.

I'm a fan of Husqvarna. With that said, I have two nails in my garage wall. One labeled dull and the other sharp.
I have three chains. When one gets dull I swap it out with a sharp one and hang it on the appropriate nail. When all three are dull I spend a morning sharpening all of them. This keeps me working on cutting more as its more time efficient to swap a chain out rather than stopping to sharpen one.

I have a large husky and 2 Stihl saws and found that Stihl produced a new plastic device that holds 2 files (round and flat) and is made to show you the exact angle to use to sharpen your saw. It is only for 3/8 inch chains but you can give a near factory edge on a chain faster than you can take the chain off and replace it on a saw. Well worth the price!

Yes it is, I have one, works really well in all weather, easy to maintain and runs and runs and runs. Super happy with it.

I had a hammer once. Replaced the handle three times, and the head twice. Best hammer I ever had.

Heard that one about my grandfather’s axe. It’s still my grandfather’s axe.

I still have a Stihl 056 super that gets regular work every season. Also a ms660 and ms261. I love my Stihl’s and it makes for good arguments with my sons who run husqvarna and domars

When I was very young, I had a Simonds Royal Chinook crosscut 8 foot saw.

I own 3 stihls. 16" bar a 25" bar and a 48" bar. Don't remember the name of the first but the second is a 390 and the third is a 660. I saw mill with the 660 but the others are for our tree farm work. Dropped the 390 in 3' of water once and fished it out, shook the air filter and she cranked right up.

I've got the little stones that attach to a dremel. Best I've had. Bought the harbour freight chain sharpener but eats the chain twice as fast.
