Football fans have been saying this for the last 3 years. It should be about football and not politics. Unfortunately, the NFL heavily injected politics into the game. Their right to do whatever they want. But by doing that, their sport is now viewed and judged through a political perspective by many including myself. I miss the days when I could just watch the game for the football and not analyze every comment or commercial from a political perspective. I found both the halftime show and many of the commercials to be very political. But Jim Nantz and Tony Romo did a great job keeping comments about football.

I think you overstate the problem. I enjoy watching the game of football. i don't analyze every commercial or comment from a political perspective. Why would I?
I do keep current and care about politics, but that has little to do with watching the competition of a good, well-played football game. Good Lord. I don't understand.

Once the Colon took a knee, and the National Felons League starting to disrespect our flag, and brought their biased BS into the game, that’s when I quit watching any game. The best thing is I don’t miss it one bit.

I agree whole heartedly about the singing of the National Anthem. Why do people complain about the player's kneeling during the anthem but accept this type of rendition? Are we the only country that allows this disrespect for our anthem? If it our National Anthem, perform it the way it was written with reverence in honor for all that served and died for our country.

Interesting comments. I got sent to the attic for a post saying the Bernie memes were funny. I wonder what the administration will do with this one.

I think how quickly this thread turned political is telling in itself. If you can keep your head down and focus just on NFL football then I am envious of your perspective as a sports fan. I can do that pretty well with college football . I wish I could get back to those days in the NFL. But I think that goose is cooked.

I cannot answer your question “Why would I”? But I have 4 kids who where also watching the game and halftime show and the commercials. The influence of any media on me is minimal at this point in my life. But my kids are greatly influenced by suggestive actions or ads on TV. So I am going to be paying careful attention to what they are seeing and hearing. Just a small example of what I am talking about is the attempt of the ads to show diversity. It looked as though every advertiser was told be be inclusive and show diversity in their ads. And they did that by making sure ads had a very high percentage of African Americans in their ads. My one son noticed this and asked why they didn’t include any Asians or Latinos in the ads if they were trying to be inclusive. As a parent I need to be able to answer that question.

I did not see it and have not watched a half-time in over 20 years as they have steadily degenerated. If that is what is considered acceptable talent and entertainment in recent generations, well, they've been cheated or they just don't know what real talent is to begin with.

The National Anthem should NEVER be stylized. Period.

I cringe every time I hear a singer attempt to vibrato their way through our National Anthem. I know it is a difficult song to sing as not many of the ability to reach those high notes, but, yes, sing it as the original melody was written way back in the 1700s, borrowed from the English and paired to the lyrics written by Francis Scott Key.
