Is it Macintosh or Windows?
Because it does make a difference.
How much RAM and Hard Drive space.

Have you considered the 'free' software that came with your camera? You can google 'support' for your camera brand and model and navigate to that 'support page' for the camera and download the latest version. Then, use google and utube to find instructions for using the software.

The most powerful free software is GIMP, shareware you can find via google as well as extensive training videos on utube.

If you want free, i'd suggest trying "darktable" (like Lightroom) and "Gimp" (like Photoshop).

Gimp, Glimpse and darktable are all open source and free, but have a steep learning curve. As others have noted, your camera manufacturer also has free software available to you which will allow you to do "standard" processing (but may not have things like HDR or panorama abilities). Affinity is currently selling for $29.00, is quite easy to use and does most of the things you probably need. You should also download any free trials you find so that you can compare what is out there. Enjoy!

Others mentioned them, but I personally use Darktable and sometimes GIMP (or GLIMPSE which is a branch off of GIMP).

They both have steep learning curves, but with some youtube searching, there are plenty of tutorials to help guide you.

If you do not work with raw files, then GIMP is probably the better choice.

Consider ACDSee Pro, costs like $50 and very similar to Lightroom.

PhotoScapeX can be used accurately with 3 or 4 clicks or you can REALLY get into serious editing. Here are a couple of sites for you, Enjoy. Be sure to select Mac/or Windows. Get the free version first (it never expires), and you can always upgrade. Also, please do yourself a favor and watch the following YouTube videos to see if you would be interested and for training. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWC-SAuYOzw&t=325s Instruction and download info http://x.photoscape.org/
Best wishes on your photographic journey.

I also have windows 10. If you load an image into your computer and double click on it, windows 10 will automatically bring up some editing software.
Left click Edit and create, then hit edit, there you will be able to many things for free.
