I do most printing at home but have used Walgreens. They did a decent job.
I looked forward to checking out their processing when they came to Rochester, but when they opened here, they did not offer photo service at all. Told me to send files to Cleveland, OH. No thanks!

Costco has just announced they are closing their photo centers in the stores due to declining volume. They will be online only in Arizona at least.
Sam's did this last year. It's not that they don't print but they don't print on site. I was so used to the almost instant turn around. Now it takes about a week as they farm it out to a vender.
This is really bad news, I think. And the long lines at the two Costco stores I frequent would belie a loss of business. They have even had to put on extra help in the photo section! If they ship direct, then we have to pay the shipping costs, which will make the products extremely more expensive.
To the question of Costco and photography services. Cahale nailed it. Old question in Econ 101: "What is the purpose of General Motors?" The answer is "To make money." Making cars is how they make money, or sometimes not. Purpose of Costco is to make money by selling goods and services.

This is not all that surprising given that most people don't print at all...I would be more surprised if on-line labs closed. Other than us enthusiasts/pros have many people do you know actually print a pic, let alone print from their cell phones?
When customers exit brick and mortar for internet, they should not complain when the b/m stores change their product or unfortunately, close. It's not a charity. And it's driven by customer volume.

How do you know you're not a successful photographer until a clerk at Costco refuses to print your images?

Email I got said all are closing but you can still print online and they will ship to you.
That might actually be better than trying to brave my local Costco parking lot. People get really aggressive and nasty there.
Yes, they have looney drivers. Some uppity woman ran into my car while she was driving backwards. And they were not filming American Graffiti there. She not me with a Euro brand SUV. And her insurance company found it interesting how she was navigating while in reverse.
The article I read said all 800 stores. Demand is falling as digital and printers allow people to do this work at home.

Funky as the One where we go is a new Costco that is even larger than all the other ones we used to go to.
I’ve used CPQ Professional Images for 30+ years. cpq.com
If you need info you can’t find online call them and ask for BJ, he’s packed full of knowledge. He’s probably at Imaging USA 2021 right now in Grapevine so wait until later next week.
