They creep over time, and tightening the screw enough to keep it from creeping will strip it or the socket. I've been doing macro with digital for 14 yrs and have never need to use a macro rail system. If I did find myself needing one, I would use Hejnar Photo hardware - quality is similar to RRS but less expensive.

I agree wholeheartedly. Even when I was young I did not have enough time to try everything to learn what worked well and what did not. Thankfully there were always someone willing to help me by sharing their thoughts and experiences.
HOWEVER...there are somethings that one can only learn from personal experience that they can not learn any other way such as swinging a cat by its tail.
(figuratively of course).
